How to Choose High-Quality PCD Drawing Dies?

As more and more people are choosing PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) drawing dies to replace carbide wire drawing dies, how should you select the optimal PCD dies?

Firstly, PCD dies can be categorized into three material types: cobalt-based PCD, high-density Polycrystalline Diamond (suitable for drawing iron and low-carbon steel), and silicon-based (for applications with lower surface and tolerance requirements, and the lowest price). For different drawing methods, such as powder drawing and oil drawing, the internal die hole processing varies.

If you have specific requirements for the wire surface, it is recommended to use high-density or cobalt-based PCD dies. Comparatively, high-density PCD has a higher density, while cobalt-based PCD has a lower density, resulting in better wire surface quality.

SFD’s die sleeves are commonly made of stainless steel and 45# steel. The die hole design is customized according to customer requirements. Our PCD dies have received positive feedback for drawing welding wire, low-carbon steel, and stainless steel, as we prioritize production details and strictly control the raw materials. Our PCD base is sourced from Sf Diamond, a leading domestic manufacturer of composite superhard materials.

For PCD welding wire drawing, it is recommended to maintain the finished dies daily, while the transition dies can be maintained less frequently. For customers with high wire surface requirements, the nano-coated dies perform better than PCD dies and offer a certain price advantage. Welcome to request sample testing!
